Franz Spilhaus was born in Johannesburg, South Africa. He is an Assistant Director, Cinematographer and Stunt Coordinator known for One Piece, Black Sails and War. Franz is also the co-founder of Pyranha Stunts. A creative force in action design, delivering world-class Action Direction, Stunt Coordination, cutting-edge rigging, and custom equipment for commercials, television, and film. Based in Cape Town and working globally, Pyrahna Stunts merge precision and innovation to craft cinematic stunts that elevate storytelling.

From initial action ideation and storyboarding, to animation and live previz, the team collaborates closely with directors to visualize, refine, and execute high-impact sequences. Offering world class stunt and rigging solutions, the team ensures every beat of the action aligns with the creative vision.
